Workshop Antalya -
Turkey, October 11 -
19, 2009.
The International
Budget Partnership
(IBP) was host to
the intermediate
training workshop
entitled Budget
Analysis and
Advocacy. The goal
of the workshop is
to help participants
build the
quantitative skills
that will enable
them to conduct
budget analyses
independently and to
build the advocacy
skills that will
enable them to
disseminate the
results of their
analyses to
influence public
budget policies.
The workshop is
conducted over a
period of nine days.
During this
training,
participants were
provided with an
understanding of
issues such as the
budget process,
budget terminology,
case studies of
budget groups from
around the world,
quantitative
analysis, and budget
advocacy. The
workshop was highly
participatory -
though some issues
in the training
covered through
presentations made
by the trainers -
and participants to
respond to issues,
raised questions and
discussed the
workshop material,
undertake group work
and exercises, and
made presentations
during the different
training sessions.
The workshop was
based on a
comprehensive
package of workshop
material that
includes a
simulation of the
budget of a
fictitious country
along with case
study problems that
participants
analyzed. This
workshop was based
entirely on the
fictitious country;
participants didn't
apply their
knowledge to their
country-specific
work. The IBP has
designed this
training workshop as
the foundational
course for its
subsequent courses
on budget analysis
and advocacy.
Twelve: BCED

Training for 160
beneficiaries'
returnees of IOM
Programme for Human

Stabilization (PHSS)
in Babylon, Iraq.

conflict areas in
north Babil
"AL-Kedir village"
which not far was
one of the most
endanger areas that
its population was
subjected to
displacement and
leave their land
without cultivation
and a lot of animal
products was
subjected to death.
BCED and IOM in this
initiative aiming to
help people who
returned to their
homes in this
district to
cultivate their land
and development of
their agricultural
and animal products
in a more modern and
sophisticated ways
and means to serve
farmers in growth of
income and
improvement of their
standard of living,
then development the
agricultural sector
in the district as a
whole.

beneficiaries in

Stabilization
