First: with support of Izdihar/ Tijara USAID programs, BCED worked as SBDC from November 2006 to August 2010 and:

1-    Provided 13 Cornerstone Training Course "How to Start-up or Improve a Business" number of participants 156: 48 women. The training Implemented in BCED site in Hilla during 2006 and 2007.

2-    Provided training course "How to Start up a Business for Women" for 10 of Businesswomen in Hilla districts. The training Implemented in BCED site in Hilla.

3-    Prepared a Business plan for one of more active women entrepreneurs participated in BCED courses and take the initiative to start her Bakery Business. The Business Plan approved from USAID to get grant for improve her Business.

4-    Hosted and facilitated MFI training, number of participants 35 from staff of CHF, RI and Bank of Baghdad.

5-    Provided 14 Cornerstone Training Course in two separated courses "How to Start-up a Business" and "How to Improve a Business" number of participants 178: 31 women. The training Implementing in both BCED sites Hilla and Iskandariya during 2010.

Second: BCED created a strategic alliance with the North Babil ePRT in order to:

1-    Offer training opportunities for Iskandariyah to increase and improve the knowledge and management skills of entrepreneurs in the city. Number of participants 240: 27 women. Implemented in Iskandariya council building through 16 courses.

2-    Evaluate and proposed 15 best business plan from 100 to get small grant from ePRT North Babil.

3-    Organize and present the Agriculture Development Conference.

4-    Provide Agri-business training for the Agricultural Unions in Iskandariyah and Jurf Al suhkr, The Agri-business training was requested to focus on Agri-business planning, legal operation of Agricultural NGOs in Iraq, Benefits of Agricultural Unions, and Agri-business accounting. Number of participants 30. Implemented in FOB Kalsu and in FOB Iskan.

5-    Provide NGO Accounting training for the Agricultural Unions in Iskandariyah. Number of participants 7. Implemented in FOB Kalsu.

6-    Managing the BCED-SBDC office in Iskandariya to provide critically needed business services to the southern region business community in North Babil. More than 500 businessmen and women will be trained under this program during one year and will also receive a "one stop" shop approach for business planning, market development, and financing. The implementation of the program started in Nov. 2008 and provided 18 courses for 506 trainees till end of Oct. 2009 on: "How to Start Up a Business" for 212 entrepreneurs, "How to Improve a Business" for 219 entrepreneurs, "Basic Computer Skills" for 65 trainees, and TOT on How to Start or Improve a Business for 11 new trainers.

Third: BCED created a strategic alliance with Babil PRT in order to:

1-    Provide small business development training for 50 entrepreneurs from different kind of small and middle-size business (SMEs) through three courses, the first in SBDC site, the second in REO; Babil PRT site and the third at CSC Scania.

2-    Utilize professional consulting resources from the BCED- SBDC-Hilla in partnership to strengthen the planning, operating, management, and internal governance capacity of the Iraqi Society for Fish Production (ISFP) and Bees Breeder Association (BBA) to serve its members better, become sustainable civil society organizations, and thereby bring greater stability and economic development to Babil province.

Fourth: BCED created a strategic alliance with South Baghdad ePRT in order to:

1-    Provide Business Associations training and Agri-business Associations training on "How to Improve NGOs and technical assistance for registration". The participants were 102 of Board Members from 9 Business Associations and 11 Agricultural Associations. The training Implemented in BCED site in Hilla.

2-    Provide the Advance training course "Association Management and Development" for 10 of Board Members from 2 Business Association. The training Implemented in BCED site in Hilla.

3-    Provide for Women's Initiatives: the training course "How to Improve a Business for Women" for eight of representatives four of Businesswomen NGOs, and the training course "How to Improve NGOs" for ten of the members of women farmers NGO in South Baghdad districts. The training Implemented in BCED site in Hilla.

4-    Provide the training course "How to Improve a Business" for 10 entrepreneurs from Dora district. The training Implemented in BCED site in Hilla.

5-    Provide the training course "How to Improve NGOs" for eight of the board members of The Library Friends Cultural Organization in Dora district. The training Implemented in BCED site in Hilla.

6-    Provide two Advance training courses "Association Management and Development" for 30 of Board Members from 10 Agri-business Association. The training Implemented in Mahmudiyah Library with support of US army in FOB Mahmudiyah.

Fifth: BCED created a strategic alliance with IRD in order to:

1-    Provide Business Skills for Running Micro Projects courses for 281 grantees in eight targeted districts and focused areas of north Babylon.

2-    Provide Business Skills for Low Small Business courses for 173 grantees in eight targeted districts and focused areas of north Babylon.

3-    Provide Business Skills for Small Business courses for 54 grantees in eight targeted districts and focused areas of north Babylon.

Sixth: BCED created a strategic alliance with Wasit PRT in order to:

1-    Provide small business development training for 29 entrepreneurs and management staff for three of the main NGOs and the Chamber of Commerce in Wasit in order to evaluate the capacity of these NGOs to formalize Wasit SBDC. The training Implemented at Iraqi Businessmen Union in Wasit.

2-    Provide SME Lending Units Training for 7 loan officers from the main private banks in Wasit. The training Implemented at Iraqi Businessmen Union in Wasit.

Seventh: With support of UNOPS/ILO to stimulate local economic recovery within Local Area Development Program (LADP); an area-based initiative of 7 UN Agencies, implemented in three target areas: the Governorates of Sulaymaniyah and Babel and the Marshlands region, five of BCED trainers and staff participated in the following training and workshops:

1-    Training of trainers on Startup Business and Management in Amman at 17-28 August 2008.

2-    Private Financial Services for SMEs workshop in Amman at 15 – 17 November 2008.

3-    Business Administration and regulatory environment workshop in Amman at 18 – 23 November 2008.

4-    Gender and Entrepreneurship Together: GET Ahead for Women in Enterprise in Amman at November 29 – December 3, 2008.

5-    Women’s Entrepreneurship Development (WED) Capacity Building in Amman at 14 – 18 December 2008.

6-    Management and Key Techniques for SME Couselling (Iraq) in Turin – Italy, at 4 – 16 May 2009.

Eight: BCED created a strategic alliance with Ain Net for NGOs and concerning with Bint Al Rafidain Organization in Hilla to participation in provincial council election monitoring processes through:

1-    One of BCED trainers participated in Election Monitoring TOT that facilitated by the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs in Erbil, Iraq at Dec. 27 to 29, 2008.

2-    BCED nominated ten of his active members to be as monitors for election, and At Saturday, Jan.24 BCED implemented training observers course for those 10 monitors; the training included many items they focus upon it such as Planning for Election Observation, Rules of Conduct for Election Observers, Principles for International Election Observation, Reporting Observation Findings, and Iraqi rule no. 3 for the year 2008 (Observers of elections and referenda).

3-    At January 31, 2009 BCED Election Observers contributed in Monitoring Babil Provincial Council Election for 8 election centers in Hilla Center.

Ninth: BCED awarded two contracts from International Solution Group (ISG) with partnership with UNOPS/ILO to implement the following training workshops:

1-    Four workshops for 72 participants on Women Entrepreneurship Development (WED).

2-    Two workshops for 50 participants on Business Management Training (BMT).

Tenth: BCED awarded contract from Center of Middle Furat Media Specialists with partnership with UNOPS/ILO to implement the following training workshops:

1-    Two Workshops for 50 participants on Gender & Entrepreneurship Together - Get Ahead for Women in Enterprise.

Eleventh: BCED created a strategic alliance with IPB through a participation the Chief of BCED in Budget Analysis and Advocacy Training Workshop – Antalya - Turkey, October 11 - 19, 2009.

The International Budget Partnership (IBP) was host to the intermediate training workshop entitled Budget Analysis and Advocacy.  The goal of the workshop is to help participants build the quantitative skills that will enable them to conduct budget analyses independently and to build the advocacy skills that will enable them to disseminate the results of their analyses to influence public budget policies.

The workshop is conducted over a period of nine days. During this training, participants were provided with an understanding of issues such as the budget process, budget terminology, case studies of budget groups from around the world, quantitative analysis, and budget advocacy.  The workshop was highly participatory - though some issues in the training covered through presentations made by the trainers - and participants to respond to issues, raised questions and discussed the workshop material, undertake group work and exercises, and made presentations during the different training sessions.  The workshop was based on a comprehensive package of workshop material that includes a simulation of the budget of a fictitious country along with case study problems that participants analyzed. This workshop was based entirely on the fictitious country; participants didn't apply their knowledge to their country-specific work.  The IBP has designed this training workshop as the foundational course for its subsequent courses on budget analysis and advocacy. 

Twelve: BCED awarded three contracts from International organization for Migration (IOM) to implement the following training workshops:

1-    Provide six workshops on Farming Training for 160 beneficiaries' returnees of IOM Programme for Human Security and Stabilization (PHSS) in Babylon, Iraq. The training deliver in one of more conflict areas in north Babil "AL-Kedir village" which not far was one of the most endanger areas that its population was subjected to displacement and leave their land without cultivation and a lot of animal products was subjected to death. BCED and IOM in this initiative aiming to help people who returned to their homes in this district to cultivate their land and development of their agricultural and animal products in a more modern and sophisticated ways and means to serve farmers in growth of income and improvement of their standard of living, then development the agricultural sector in the district as a whole.

2-    Provide Business Development Training to 400 IKG beneficiaries in Babil Province of IOM Programme for Human Security and Stabilization (PHSS). 20 training workshops of two days implement covering Babil and Iskandariya offices to support capacity building of the PHSS IKG beneficiaries in managing their new business.

3-    Provide two workshops on Farming Training for 40 beneficiaries' returnees of IOM Programme for Human Security and Stabilization (PHSS) in Babylon, Iraq. The training delivered in "Abo Kharaq village". BCED and IOM in this initiative aiming to help people who returned to their homes in this district to cultivate their land and development of their agricultural and animal products in a more modern and sophisticated ways and means to serve farmers in growth of income and improvement of their standard of living, then development the agricultural sector in the district as a whole.
